Poppies

poppies like Emil Nolde, acrylic painting

When I get bored at home, I paint or draw. Which is pretty much every day. Waiting at restaurants. When the TV is claimed by my younger siblings or my dad.

My mom’s favorite flowers are tulips and poppies. I think this is why she keeps showing me poppy paintings by Emil Nolde on her Pinterest account.

This is acrylic on 14 ” by 18″ canvas board. $135. SOLD.

Flower Black and White

My mom bought me a box of charcoal pencils and art books of Georgia O’Keefe and Emil Nolde for my birthday. This is my first time experimenting with charcoal pencil drawing.

12 ” x 15″, charcoal on paper. $20. Please email to purchase.

Poppies Inspired by Emil Nolde

abstract poppies, acrylic abstract, Emile Nolde

I painted this custom greeting card as my first commission. The card, which is acrylic on paper, was used for a wedding card. My Sensei showed me poppy paintings by Emil Nolde as inspiration. This was the last fifteen minutes of my lesson as I rushed to finish in time. We used a blow drying to speed up the drying process … my client needed the card in 10 minutes for her party and we were 10 minutes away!!

8.5″ x 11″, acrylic on watercolor paper. $10. SOLD.

I am available to do custom greeting cards.

Poison Fruit

abstract peach painting, abstract peach, painting of peach

A desire to eat an out of season peach prompted this abstract painting. I have the work in progress here and here.

I painted this long before I saw Snow White and and the Huntsman, but I guess it’s the kind of apple-like fruit that Snow White would have eaten. Great movie but sooo scary!

30″ x 48″ acrylic on paper. $80. SOLD.

Artist at Work

Artist in her studio

The artist at work at her Sensei‘s studio for her art lesson. Her assignment is to create abstract paintings using acrylic on paper. She has chosen to paint flowers, then she is inspired by a desperate need to eat a peach since peaches are not in season yet. The result is this abstract painting of a peach.

Her Sensei suggests painting the flowers in alternate ways includine a half white background. She is documenting her work as part of her kid art gallery. All works are for sale so that she may earn money for more art supplies.

Flowers Day and Night
